A few months ago I was driving my boys to a birthday party. Just me and the boys. My 8-year-old just thought out of the blue, "Baby sharks have an extra challenge when they are born."
"Oh yeah? What's that?"
"They have to swim away fast or their mom will eat them."
"Is that true?"
"Yes."
"You are such a wise person, Julian."
"What?"
"I said you are wise."
"What's that?"
"It means you are very smart, from experience."
"I've never been eaten." He was confused about how experience could have taught him this.
"Okay, you are just smart. What made you think about sharks?"
"I don't know, I just did."
